About the Mayor
The Mayor and Mayor's Consort of Solihull for 2018 - 2019 are Councillor Mrs Flo Nash and Mr Alan Nash.
The Mayor of Solihull
Councillor Mrs Flo Nash
Flo was born in the village of Bromyard, Herefordshire, before shortly moving to Birmingham where she attended Tilton Road Girls School.
Flo became involved in Chelmsley Wood Town Council and has worked with the police and the local church. As well as working in retail for around 30 years, she was a board member at St Leonard’s Day Centre, Marston Green Home and at Forest Oak School when it was in Chelmsley Wood. Later Flo joined Fordbridge Town Council and became a member of the management board for the Colebridge Trust. Flo has also been a school governor for St Ann’s Primary School and Bennett’s Well Primary School for over two years.
Elected to the Governing Board for Heartlands, Solihull & Good Hope Hospitals, Flo has helped raise money with the help of fellow councillors for breast cancer, Cancer Research, Macmillan Nurses, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Cancer Ward and Help for Heroes.
When she was 16, Flo met her husband-to-be, Alan. They got married shortly after while Alan was serving in the Irish Guards. She was an army wife and moved homes several times during this period. She later settled with her husband in Chelmsley Wood with her four children and has seen lots of changes in the area over the last 45 years.
This will be her fifth year as a borough councillor and Flo is looking forward to the next twelve months with great anticipation.
Honorary Alderman Alan Nash
Alan was born in Birmingham and has been married to Flo for 56 years.
After eight years in the Irish Guards, he became a black cab driver in Birmingham for 38 years where he was the chairman of the Taxi Association. He then became a councillor in 2000 and was a member of the Licencing Committee and Transport Committee, among others. He was the Mayor of Solihull 2003 - 2004 and a councillor for 15 years.
Alan enjoys fishing with his grandchildren, travelling and going to concerts and the theatre. He remains a member of the Irish Guards Association.

Hello, my name is Alice Jackson. I am 15 years old and I’m in year 11 at Arden School in Knowle. I have two brothers who are twins, an English Pointer called Buddy and also two rabbits called Dasher & Lottie.
Activities that I take part in are; Dance classes, playing the Clarinet and I am in 4th Knowle Explorers. I started Scouts when I was in year 7 and progressed to Explorers, so I’ve been an active member for 5 years so far.
I’ve just completed my Bronze DofE with the Explorer group.
My friends would describe me as funny, happy and caring. When I am older I would like to be in the Army or the Navy as a nurse because I have been inspired by learning about Florence Nightingale ever since year 2!!! My goal in life is to help people and make people happy, that’s why I’m always smiling.
I love finding out about new things, exploring and I’m always up for any challenge!!!
