JSNA Core Data Set


We have identified around 20 key indicators of health and wellbeing among the Solihull population. For each of these we will maintain a short data report, showing Solihull’s position relative to the national average and those of comparable Local Authorities, highlighting specific issues of inequality among our local population. These key indicators will cover the following areas of health and wellbeing:

  • Lifestyle, Behaviours and Access to Services
  • Child and Maternal Health
  • Disease and Ill Health (including mental health)
  • Mortality (including life expectancy)

Current data reports include:

  • All Cancers
    Covering measures of cancer incidence, prevalence and mortality in different Solihull localities, benchmarked over time against national average and peer group Local Authorities.
  • All Circulatory Disease
    Deaths from circulatory disease (including heart disease and stroke) in different Solihull localities, benchmarked over time against national average and peer group Local Authorities.
  • End of Life Care
    Comparing the proportion of Solihull residents who die in their own home rather than a hospital, hospice or care home. The place of death is analysed by different Solihull localities and by cause of death and compared to national average and peer group benchmarks over time.
  • Excess Winter Deaths
    The number of deaths that occur in Solihull during the winter months (December to March) compared with the average across the rest of the year. This data is analysed over time by age and gender and benchmarked against national average and peer group Local Authorities.
  • Fertility and Conception
    Fertility rates, births by maternal age and teenage conceptions analysed over time for different Solihull localities and benchmarked against national average and peer group Local Authorities.
  • Infant Mortality
    Infant deaths in Solihull analysed by type and maternal age, benchmarked against national and peer group Local Authorities.
  • Life Expectancy
    A range of life expectancy measures, including disability free years, for Solihull localities benchmarked against national average and peer group Local Authorities. Represents a key measure of healthy inequality within Solihull.
  • Self Harm
    Hospital admissions by age and gender due to self harm for different Solihull localities and benchmarked against national average and peer group Local Authorities.
  • Skin Cancer
    Incidence and deaths from different types of skin cancer and among different age and gender groups in Solihull. Trend data is benchmarked against national average and peer group Local Authorities.
  • Suicide and Injury Undetermined
    Deaths from Suicide and other injuries in Solihull, benchmarked against national and peer group Local Authorities.
