Renovation grants
These are available to owner occupiers and private tenants only.
The service is provided by our partner Solihull Independent Living
They may be able to help you undertake repairs and improvements to your home if your situation meets our criteria and funding priorities. Discretionary house renovation grants are available to bring a property up to a standard that complies with category 1 of the Housing, Health and Safety Rating System (HH&SRS).
Would I qualify for a grant?
Households in receipt of one of the following benefits are eligible provided that they are the only owners of the property
- income support
- income based job seekers allowance
- pension credit (guaranteed income)
You may also qualify if you are in receipt of low income, but the higher your income and savings the less likely it will be that a grant will be awarded.
Will I have to contribute towards the cost of work ?
Yes, you will be required to pay a percentage of the cost.
Eligible Works
Below are works that in general receive grant, but this is not a comprehensive list.- Re-wiring
- Re-roofing
- Structural faults
- Damp
- External fabric problems e.g. re-pointing
How do you apply?
To apply for the above grant contact Solihull Independent Living on 0121 717 1517 who will discuss your eligibility and where appropriate, they will then outline the appropriate application procedure. Alternatively an initial enquiry form may be sent to you to complete to see if you qualify for assistance.
If you qualify financially for assistance a visit to your home will be undertaken by our surveyor to make a brief assessment of its condition, so that we can let you know what work will be grant assisted.
The amount of grant (if any) cannot be confirmed until a formal application is completed by our Caseworker, who will visit you at your home.
They will use the information on the form to determine what your likely contribution is going to be, so that you can decide if you wish to proceed
