Size Wise

SizeWise

Size Wise is a 12 week course giving help, support and advice on how to eat healthily, lose weight and keep it off!

 Each week there will be:

  • 45 minutes of healthy eating advice from a registered dietician working for Solihull Care Trust
  • A 45 minute beginners' exercise class with a fully qualified exercise professional.
  • In a supportive group.

Who Can Join?

Size Wise is open to everyone over 16 (under 18s should come with an adult). The exercise class is designed to be suitable for both complete beginners and those who already do some activity.
If you have a medical condition you should speak to your doctor before taking part. A copy of our health questionnaire is available on the right.
If your health prevents you from joining in with the activity session then you are welcome to attend for the healthy eating session only.

How much does it cost?

Courses at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre and Solihull College costs £22.50

Courses in North Solihull cost £10 (Subsidised by North Solihull GPs)

Is it for women only?

No. We do have more women than men on Size Wise, but men are particularly welcome, and feedback indicates that they enjoy the course and can achieve good weight loss.

Will I have to be weighed every week?

No. The scales are available every week and the dietician will ask to weigh you at the beginning, middle and end of the course. This is so that we can see if Size Wise is helping people to lose weight. But you do not have to be weighed if you do not want to be.

When Can I Start?

New courses will be starting at various locations across Solihull at different times of day in January 2012.

Can I start after the first week?

No. You need to attend on the first week of the course.

What if I can't make it every week?

We understand that it may not be possible to attend all 12 weeks due to other commitments. If you miss a session, the handouts will be available for you the next week.

What happens after 12 weeks?

When you have finished phase 1 of Size Wise, you can join Phase 2 for a continuing weekly exercise session and support.

How do I book a place on the course

Contact Angie Jesson on 0121 712 7781 or angela.jesson@heartofengland.nhs.uk to find out more information or to reserve your place on the course.

I am a health professional - can I refer a patient onto Size Wise?

Attendance is by self referral - simply give the patient a Size Wise flyer (available on the right), which contains contact details on how to reserve a place. Posters are also available to advertise the groups.
