The Solihull Observatory: Understanding Solihull
The Solihull Observatory is the home for information and intelligence about Solihull, its neighbourhoods and its people, undertaking work for, and in partnership with, a wide range of customers across the Council and other partner organisations, including Public Health.
The Observatory provides a centre of excellence in research, data collection and analysis, supporting the local commissioning process as well as evidence-based policy-making. Part of the responsibilities include co-ordinating a network of analysts and policy officers (for further information, see our page on the Solihull Information Group Network (SIGN)),
Contributing to some of the Solihull Partnership's main strategic needs assessments such as the Local Economic Assessment, the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, the Anti-Poverty Strategy and the Safer Communities Assessment is a core element of the Observatory's role. Other key functions include annual Ward Profiles, monthly unemployment briefing papers {hyperlink} survey design and analysis and commissioned projects.
