The Solihull Observatory: Understanding Solihull
Introduction
Understanding Solihull brings together, in one place, a range of key information about Solihull, providing insight about Solihull as a place to live and the people who live in the Borough. It provides the Solihull Partnership and partner agencies with a full range of information that will help decision makers to focus on areas of greatest need and the targeting of scarce resources. This, in turn, will facilitate delivery of the aims and objectives of the Sustainable Community Strategy and Council Plan through effective intervention.
Understanding Solihull is divided into five sections that reflect the key blocks of the Sustainable Community Strategy. The sections are:
Population dynamics (size, density, household composition, commuting, migration patterns and longer-term changes); diversity (age, gender, ethnicity and religion); ownership; types of tenure; supply and affordability of housing; and homelessness.
Levels of deprivation; employment; wages; type of work; household income; economic inactivity; benefits payments; and the number and type of businesses in the area.
School attendance and attainment; education and skills levels in the resident population.
Feelings of safety; levels of crime (including anti-social behaviour and disorder, and drug related offences); accidents in homes, at work and on the roads; and fire safety.
Birth and death rates; life expectancy; public health measures; people with long-term conditions; support for carers; and access to quality health and social services.
If you would like any further information regarding any aspect of the information contained in the Understanding Solihull pages, please see the Who to Contact page.
