Building Healthier Communities

Building Healthier Communities

Good health is essential for quality of life and healthy people are more independent and live longer.  Although the majority of people in Solihull enjoy good health, there are still challenges.  The five Healthier Communities priorities in our Sustainable Community Strategy are to:

  1. Reduce health inequalities.
  2. Improve people’s emotional well-being and support people with mental health needs.
  3. Increase the proportion of people making healthy lifestyle choices, particularly on diet, exercise, smoking and alcohol.
  4. Enable older people and those with disabilities to live with dignity and independence.
  5. Support carers.

See our Sustainable Community Strategy for fuller details of the needs analysis underpinning these priorities and the specific measures and targets by which we will measure improvement.
