The main navigation
A quick tour of our new website, to help you find what you are looking for.
The main navigation is on the left hand side. There is a 'See also' section below the main navigation for related services.
How is the navigation structured?
The navigation is based upon services, rather than departments within the Council.
Digging down
Once you've clicked on an item on the left, the second level navigation appears underneath the menu item you just selected. (The rest of the menu will disappear, although you can click on the title to go back).
Clicking on a third level item gives you a page on this subject - sometimes with links to related pages.
Self Service Tools
On the main menu links, like: Advice and Benefits, Eduction and Learning, Housing etc.., you will see a section called Self Service Tools. In this section we have listed and created links to the most relevant Self Service online tools.
Where did the navigation come from?
The navigation was developed by another Council, as a method of finding information without understanding the internal workings of a Council.
This echos the general feelings of our customers, from many feedback responses received, it was clear people were struggling to find information on our old website.
Central government have now adopted this navigation method, known as the 'Local Government Navigation List (LGNL), for all local authorities to use.
