Applying for a secondary school place
Contact us if you can not find what you are looking for about school admissions.
If your child was born between 1 September 2000 and 31 August 2001 it is now time for you to apply for their secondary school place.
Timetable of the process:
| You should apply by | Your application is late after | Your can make changes or move house by | Offer day |

| 17 October 2011 | 31 October 2011 | 1 January 2012 | 1 March 2012 |
You can apply online for up to five schools that you would like your child to go to. You must rank the schools in order of preference. The school you name first should be the one you would most like your child to go to. The schools will not be told your rank order.
Catchment areas
We strongly recommend that you include your catchment-area school among your preferences, even if it is your lowest preference. You can find out your catchment-area school using our Online Maps service.
Secondary school details and their open evenings and open days
You can visit schools and talk to staff and pupils.
For more information about secondary schools use the drop down menu below. You will see the schools' contact details, their admission criteria, and dates and times of their open days and evenings. You can ask the school for a prospectus.
Supplementary information
Find out if the school you are applying for needs any supplementary information, such as a baptismal certificate, or if your child needs to sit a test, such as for a grammar school or CTC Kingshurst Academy.
Exceptional circumstances
Priority is given, at some Solihull schools, to children with exceptional social or medical reasons. If you think your child has exceptional circumstances you should find out more and phone School Admissions.
Is your application realistic?
Are you likely to be offered a place? Most schools receive more applications than there are places available. As a guide, you can find out if you would have been offered a place last year.
Late applications
Applications received after 31 October 2011 will be late.
What happens after you have applied?
