Exhibitions at Solihull Arts Complex

The Gallery at Solihull Arts Complex has a programme of contrasting exhibitions throughout the year.

The main part of the Gallery - G1 exhibits a programme of professional contemporary work by regional and national artists, with the Gallery commissioning two artists per year for new exhibitions. The programme is funded by the Arts Council of England Grants 4 Arts programme.

There is also an area for Heritage exhibitions put together by the Local Studies Librarian looking at local history and how Solihull has developed over the years.

In addition we have the G2-exhibition space, available to hire where local artists and societies can exhibit their work.

Solihull Arts Complex - Café Bar has had new exhibition boards installed in the café bar. This is a great space to get your work seen by a wide range of audiences: day to day passing custom, community groups, council staff, theatre audiences, library users and the Solihull Gallery visitors. For more information visit the Arts News page.

The G1 & G2 exhibition spaces and Heritage Gallery spaces are located on the first floor of the Central Library. Access is via staircase from Cafe bar (24 steps) Central Library Staircase (26 steps) or from the passenger lift during library opening hours.

To view current and upcoming exhibitions in the galleries, go to the Arts Complex programme of events and select Exhibitions from the left hand drop down menu.

Gallery Celebration Day a Great Success

Solihull Gallery had a great response to it's Celebration Day on Thursday 13th March with over 40 people having a go at the 'make your mark' canvas painting workshop during the day.

Arts Complex staff handed out celebration balloons and paintbrushes as part of the Celebration Day events, and visitors were encouraged to put their mark on a piece of community art in the G2 exhibition space. The artwork; by children as young as 18months; will be on display in the G2 space for the next two weeks, alongside collage books created by artist Syrah Arnold and inspired by her workshops in the Gallery. Another popular event with old and young alike was Popbang artist Ian Cook's free workshop where participants had a go at painting with radio controlled cars!

The celebration day was part of Solihull Central Library and Arts Complex's 30 years celebrations which will continue in the Gallery spaces throughout 2008 with exhibitions and workshops. For more information on taking part in forthcoming events and workshops at Solihull Gallery contact Aimee Green - Gallery Officer.
