Assisted Collection Service - Refuse and Recycling

This service is for residents who are unable to place their wheelie bins and recycling boxes and sack out for collection due to infirmity or disability.

This service is only available to households where there is no one else living in the property  over the age of 18 capable of moving the bins, purple sacks or recycling containers for you.

Where the Council agrees to provide an assisted collection, the bins or purple sacks and recycling containers will be moved to and from an agreed collection point at the front of your home for you.

Please complete the Assisted Collection application form. Alternatively you can call on 0121 704 8000 or email, connectcc@solihull.gov.uk. to request a copy of the form.

If you meet the criteria, you will receive an assisted collection for your next collection (as long as there is 5 working days notice), the bins or purple sacks and recycling containers will be collected from the front of your property and must visible from the road.

Assisted Collection FAQs

From time to time I may be able to get my bins/boxes put at the edge of my property?
If you have an assisted collection it is fine for you to put them out from time to time, but for consistency it is probably better to always use the assisted service.

Why do my containers have to be at the front of my home and visible on collection day?
This is so that the collection staff know that you need us to empty them and will avoid the staff having to search for them.

I do not have a front garden and cannot present my bin at the front of my home on collection day, what shall I do?
You need to put your containers somewhere that the collectors can get to them and let us know where that is.
