Previous Investigation Successes July 2009

• A 43 year old woman was offered a Formal Caution after a successful investigation by Solihull Council Benefit Fraud Investigation Team. She had failed to report that she had changed employment and was receiving additional income. In addition to this she is having to repay Housing Benefit £ 503.60 and Council Tax Benefit £ 150.49 overpaid to her.
• A 56 year old man from Castle Bromwich received a Formal Caution following a joint investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team and Job Centre Plus Fraud Team. He knowingly allowed his partner to continue to claim Income Support, Housing and Council Tax Benefit as a single parent, after he began living with her as husband and wife in her property and he was in full time work.
• A 39 year old Chelmsley Wood man was offered a Formal Caution after a successful investigation by Solihull Council. He had failed to report an increase in his Tax Credit income. In addition to this he is having to repay the £598.10 Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit over paid to him.
• A 31 year old Solihull woman was offered a Formal Caution after a successful investigation by Solihull Council Benefit Fraud Investigation team. She had failed to report that she had started to receive Tax Credits. In addition to this she is having to repay the £1030.45 Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit overpaid to her.
• A 32 year old man was offered a Formal Caution after a successful investigation by Solihull Council Benefit Fraud investigation Team. He had failed to report that he had started to receive Tax Credits. In addition to this he is having to repay the £768.53 Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit overpaid to him.
• A 27 year old woman was offered a Formal Caution after a successful investigation by Solihull Council Benefit Fraud Investigation Team. She had failed to report that she had started to receive Tax Credits. In addition to this she is having to repay the £693.07 Housing Benefit overpaid to her.
• A 37 year old man accepted a Formal Caution after a successful investigation by Solihull Council Benefit Fraud Investigation team. He had failed to report that he had started working. In addition to this he is having to repay the £1720.66 Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit overpaid to him.
• A 48 year old Chelmsley Wood man accepted a Formal Caution after a successful investigation by Solihull Council Benefit Fraud Investigation Team. He failed to report the fact that he had commenced employment and was in receipt of earnings. In addition to this he is having to repay the £572.96 Housing Benefit overpaid to him.
• A 69 year old man from Solihull accepted an Administrative Penalty of £822.25, as an alternative to prosecution, after a successful investigation by Solihull Council Benefit Fraud Investigation Team. He failed to report that his Incapacity Benefit had ceased and that he had capital and rental income from a property. He has repaid the £2,740.86 Council Tax Benefit overpaid to him.
• A 21 year old Solihull woman accepted a Formal Caution after a successful investigation by Solihull Council Benefit Fraud Team. She had failed to report promptly that she had increases in her earnings and tax credits. In addition to this she is repaying £1,091.72 Housing and Council Tax Benefits overpaid to her.
• A 37 year old single parent from Solihull accepted a Formal Caution after a successful investigation by Solihull Council’s Benefit Investigation Team. She had failed to report that her incapacity benefit had stopped as she had resumed full time work. In addition to this she has to repay the £2,390.73 Housing and Council Tax Benefit overpaid to her.
