A 27 year old woman from Tamworth previously of Chelmsley Wood was successfully prosecuted at Solihull Magistrates Court after she had previously failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was arrested and bought before the court for failing to notify Solihull Council that she had moved out of the area and was still receiving Housing Benefit from Solihull Council into her bank account. She pleaded guilty in court and was sentenced to a 2 years conditional discharge. She is also repaying the overpaid Housing Benefit totalling £1,499.94.
A 56 year old man from Birmingham previously of Solihull was given a formal caution after he admitted he had dishonestly received nearly forty housing benefit payments into his bank account to which he was not entitled, after he had moved out of the Solihull area and started to receive housing benefit payment from a neighbouring authority. He is now repaying the overpaid benefit.
