A 40 year old woman from, Solihull was successfully prosecuted following a joint investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team and JobCentre Plus Fraud Team. She had failed to advise either department that she jointly owned another property in Solihull. Proceedings were taken under the Social Security Administration Act 1992 and she was found guilty of the charge and was sentenced to a Community Order for two years with a supervision requirement and 120 hrs unpaid work.
A 38 year old woman from Chelmsley Wood, Solihull accepted a Formal Caution following a successful investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team. She failed to promptly declare to the Council changes to her Tax Credits resulting in an overpayment of Housing Benefit which is now being repaid.
