  • A 39 year old man from Solihull was successfully prosecuted at Solihull Magistrates Court following an investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team.  He had failed to advise the Benefits department of changes to his Tax Credit. Proceedings were taken under the Social Security Administration Act 1992 and he pleaded guilty in court to the offence of failing to declare changes in his circumstances.  He was fined £120.00, £15.00 Victim Surcharge and ordered to pay £350.00 towards the councils cost.

  • A 33 year old woman from Chemsley Wood in Solihull was successfully prosecuted at Solihull Magistrates Court following an investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team.  She had failed to advise the Benefits department of changes to her earned income and Tax Credit. Proceedings were taken under the Social Security Administration Act 1992 and she pleaded guilty in court to the offence of failing to declare changes in her circumstances.  She was fined £100.00 and £15.00 Victim Surcharge.  She was also ordered to pay £250.00 towards the councils cost.  She has started to repay the £5135.25 overpaid Housing Benefit.

  • A 38 year old woman from Solihull accepted a Formal Caution following a successful investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team.  She failed to promptly declare to the Council changes to her income resulting in an overpayment of £2106.71 for Housing Benefit.

  • A 49 year old woman from Solihull was successfully prosecuted at Solihull Magistrates Court following an investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team.  She had failed to advise the Benefits department of changes to her Tax Credit. Proceedings were taken under the Social Security Administration Act 1992 and she pleaded guilty in court to the offence of failing to declare changes in her circumstances.  She was fined £100.00 and £15.00 Victim Surcharge.  She was also ordered to pay £100.00 towards the councils cost.  She has started to repay the £4,275.63 overpaid Housing Benefit.
