A 45 year old man from Solihull was successfully prosecuted at Solihull Magistrates Court following a joint investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team and Job Centre Plus Fraud Team. He had failed to advise either department that his partner had started to work, he continued claiming Jobseekers Allowance (IB) and Council Tax Benefit. He pleaded guilty in court to the offence of failing to declare changes in his circumstances and was fined £75.00 and ordered to pay a £15.00 victim surcharge.
A 35 year old man from Castle Bromwich, Solihull accepted a Formal Caution following a successful investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team. He failed to promptly declare to the Council changes to his income and Tax Credits resulting in an overpayment of Housing Benefit. Arrangements are now being made to repay this debt.
A 36 year old woman from Chemsley Wood in Solihull was successfully prosecuted at Solihull Magistrates Court following a joint investigation by the Council’s Benefit Fraud Team and Job Centre Plus Fraud Team. She had failed to advise either department that her partner had started to work and continued claiming Income Support, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. She pleaded guilty in court to the offence of failing to declare changes in her circumstances and was given a 18 months Supervised Community Order and ordered to pay £100.00 Legal Costs.
