  • A 40 year old woman from Solihull accepted a Formal Caution following a successful investigation by the Council's Benefit Fraud Team.  She failed to promptly declare to the Council that she was in receipt of Student Finance resulting in an overpayment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit of £1272.76 which is now being repaid.
  • A 36 year old woman from Solihull accepted a Formal Caution following a successful investigation by the Council's Benefit Fraud Team.  She failed to promptly declare to the Council changes to her income resulting in an overpayment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit of £2673.27 which is now being recovered from her Housing Benefit.
  • A 54 year old woman from Marston Green was successfully prosecuted at Birmingham Magistrates Court following a joint investigation by the Council's Benefit Fraud Team and Job Centre Plus Fraud Team. She had failed to advise either department that she had been working whilst claiming Disability Living Allowance, Incapacity Benefit and Housing and Council Tax Benefit. She was found Guilty in court for failing to declare changes in her circumstances and was fined £85.00 and ordered to pay a £15.00 Victim Surcharge and costs of £100.
  • A 55 year old woman from Solihull accepted a Formal Caution following a successful investigation by the Council's Benefit Fraud Team and Job Centre Plus Fraud Team.  She failed to advise either department that she had capital in excess of £28,000.00 resulting in an overpayment of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Income Support totalling £1,291.11.
  • A 26 year old woman from Chelmsley Wood was successfully prosecuted at Solihull Magistrates Court following an investigation by the Council's Benefit Fraud Team. Proceedings were taken under the Social Security Administration Act 1992 and she was found guilty  to the offence failing to notify the authority of changes to her Tax Credits, she also failed to notify that she no longer paid child care costs and that her partner had moved into the property.  She was fined £480.00 ordered to pay costs of £296.66 and a victim surcharge of £15.00.  She is also repaying the overpaid Housing Benefit and Council Tax overpayment totalling £5,600.83.
