How you can obtain Legal Advice/Legal Aid and find out about Carer's rights, Release of CCTV recordings, Power of attorney, Protection Orders, Wills and Witness Support

  • CCTV procedure for the release of evidence
We are committed to the belief that everyone has the right to respect for his or her private and family life. Information on how we handle requests for CCTV footage.
  • Legal aid
If you need help with legal costs you may be able to receive some help through publicly-funded legal services. These legal services are organised by the Legal Services Commission (LSC).
  • Power of attorney
Power of Attorney is a legal document whereby one person (the "Donor") gives another person or persons (the "Attorney") the power to act on his or her behalf with regard to his or her property and financial affairs. It has to be given while the donor (the person who wants you to act) is fully compos mentis (that is, the person granting the power of attorney must be of sound mind).
  • Wills and testaments
When a person dies without leaving a will the law dictates what is to happen to their possessions.
  • Witness support
Witnesses are the most important factor in bringing those who break the law to justice. The Home Office is working hard to put the needs of witnesses and victims at the heart of the justice system to ensure more people come forward and justice is done more often.
