Renovation grants

We may be able to help you undertake repairs and improvements to your home if your situation meets our criteria and funding priorities. Discretionary house renovation grants are available to bring a property up to the fitness standard, to comply with a statutory notice under Sections 189 or 190 of the Housing Act 1985 or for certain other works to a property in addition to those required by enactment.

Eligible Works

An application can only be submitted if a property is deemed unfit for human habitation and the purpose will make a property fit to live in e.g.:

  • Re-roofing
  • Re-wiring
  • Structural faults
  • Damp
  • External fabric problems e.g. re-pointing

Grants are means tested and are mainly designed to improve the quality of life of elderly and vulnerable Solihull residents in receipt of a low income.

How do you apply?

To apply for of the above grants contact the Private Sector services on 0121 717 1434 who will discuss your eligibility and where appropriate, they will then outline the appropriate application procedure.

The amount (if any) cannot be confirmed until a formal application is submitted.
We will use the information on the form to determine what your likely contribution is going to be, so that you can decide if you want to proceed or not.
