Best Bar None

Best Bar None logo

Best Bar None is a recognised award scheme supported by the Home Office and aimed at promoting responsible management and operation of alcohol - licensed premises. It was developed and piloted in Manchester 2003 and found to be a huge success, with premises now competing to participate - improving the night time experience in their town centres.

For Best Bar None to be successful, it is essential that the Best Bar None brand has widespread recognition. For participants it ensures that the awards are meaningful and getting Best Bar None accreditation is a worthwhile activity.

For customers, the Best Bar None logo will give them confidence that accredited establishments have genuinely achieved a true standard and they are the places to visit.

We can only achieve countrywide recognition if the brand is consistently represented wherever it appears. With more schemes starting up all over the UK, it is important that every scheme is clearly part of the same family. No matter where a customer is, the Best Bar None logo should be the sign of a safe, well-run establishment.

People enjoying a night out

The Best Bar None logo should be as instantly recognisable (and meaningful) as  the Visit Britain stars you see outside hotels and guesthouses.

It has since been adopted by many towns and cities across Europe, USA, New Zealand and Australia.

Solihull launched its own Best Bar None Scheme in 2009 during which eligibility was confined to Town Centre premises.

Solihull Best Bar None Awards 2010

We all know that Solihull has an amazing array of restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs
and clubs, and many grace the Totally Society pages with fabulous events, parties
and fundraisers.

Following the huge success of the 2009 event, this year’s awards ceremony takes place on July 14th at the National Motorcycle Museum, with staff of participating premises, along with local dignitaries and members of West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service and Solihull MBC, in attendance.

With a dress code of ‘black tie’, the evening is a chance for staff from the nominated premises to enjoy an evening where their efforts are recognised and their achievements rewarded.

A charity auction will also be held during the event to raise money for SoLO ( Solihull Life Opportunities) and Phil Upton from BBC WM will be the compere for the evening.

The evening will culminate in the announcement of the overall 'Best Bar None'.
