"This book was fantastic. I thought the way that Sophie Meckenzie described the way Lauren was feeling was fabulous; it made me interact with her emotions. My favourite part was when Lauren and her best friend Jam were kiddnaped by Sonia Holtwood in America. I also thought the way Sophie described Sonia was brilliant, it also made me hate her just like Lauren by reading the discriptive pages. The ending was something I wasn't expecting. I thought it was written just like it would happen in real life. I really felt for Lauren especially when her parents were arrested for something they didn't even do. I also think that Sonia was made to sound like a real kidnapper and it made me feel like I was being kidnapped too."

Review by Lauren from Lode Heath

"I loved 'Girl Missing' because I loved the relationships between the charecters and the action kept me reading. Lauren is amazing how she can find out that she is adopted just by looking on a missing persons website. Her relatoinship with Jam grows when he goes with her to America to find her birth parents. All the secrets kept me guessing, and when Lauren's younger sister dissapears I started to cry because I was so worried for her as if I was there. And when they all meet up in the end theres an amazing atnosphere between everybody. 'Girl Missing' convinced me to read 'Six Steps To A Girl' which was really well written too. "

"The book is really good. It's about a young girl who finds out that shes been adopted from America and that she's been abducted and so her real parents want her back. She goes to America as a holiday and runs away with her best friend Jam to try and find her real parents. This book is one of the best I've ever read. Its a brilliant book and I loved reading it. I think that Sophie Mckenzie is a really good writer and this book has family problems in so it's a good book to read if you're going through te same problems as Lauren is in the book. If I was to recomend this bbok to anybody who loves books by Jacqueline Wilson. If I had to give this book a mark out of ten I would give it a ten because it was a really good book."

Review by Amy from Lode Heath School and Sports College

"This book is about a girl called Lauren who is adopted. She is surfing on the Internet when she comes across a missing persons website. She sees a picture of a baby; the baby is called Martha Lauren Pruditt, and clicks on an attachment to see what the baby may look like at the present time. She is shocked. The baby went missing the very year she was adopted, and the picture looks astonishingly like herself. After questioning her adoptive parents and getting no response she decides to go and do her own research along with her best friend Jam. The girl whose picture is on the Internet is American, so if she is her, how did she come to be in England? She soon finds out that that is to do with her adoptive parents and that they know a lot more than they are letting on. A brilliant read, I really enjoyed it. Star rating: *****"

"This was a great book and the character suited the book perfectly. Lauren matched her personality and it was good at the beginning because she, as an adopted child, wanted to find out more about herself but took it to extremes when she ran away to find her biological parents. It was such an exciting book especially when she was picked up by Sonia who seemed to be a real policeman but wasn't."

Review by Rashid from Greswold Primary school

"Girl Missing was a really exciting book. From the beginning as you find out that she is an adopted child who has this idea to venture out into the open to find her real parents. As her journey continues she meets a boy called Jam who travels with her to find out the truth. Was she really was kidnapped from her parents?Sophie Meckenzie choice of words described the way she felt which i thought really made the book come alive. My favourite part was when Lauren was tied up on the boat and had to escape from her captives.I know that children will love this book and will rate it 10 out of 10."

Review by Gomathy from Greswold Primary school

"Girl Missing is a mindblowing story about a girl called Lauren Matthews who witnessed being taken away from her parents and was adopted by another family. What i feel Sophie Mckenzie is good at is that from the first line till the last she hooks you in.My opinion is that if this fantastic book was turned into a movie it would be a blockbuster.Sophie Mckenzie,I feel has thought very carefully about the plot of this fascinating book which made this book most thrilling.I very much enjoyed this book and I am hoping that it will win the John Lewis Book Awards."

Review by Victoria from  St.James C.E. Junior school

"This book Girl Missing is one I like, I think of her a quite a confused 14 year old girl. I know that, because sometimes when I read books I can sort of think about the place they are and sort of feel the emotions. This is the sort of book I could feel her emotions and fear. I am really glad that Lauren has a best friend Jam who can help her though good and bad times, its just lovely to have someone by your side who understands you. Well Lauren finds out she is adopted and her adoptive parents don't tell her, so she goes to March-field and tries to find out who and where her mother is. So that's why I like the book it shows you the persons feelings and how they react to it. Also it tells you how well the author has experienced to make the book sound real and emotional. That's why I like girl missing!!!"

Girl Missing is the best book I have read; it is the sort of book that grips me - not many books do that to me . Also, your book stands out from all the other books and is clearly the best. Furthermore, the background of the book is amazing; the way that she is determind to find her birth mom is really really nice. Moreover, your book is really inspirational and has inspired me to start writing my own books. Sophie Mckenzie - the best author in the world - thank you for writing this book.

Girl Missing, is the best book out of all the books; I could not put this book down for 1 second. This Book has been well writen by Sophie Mckenzie and has inspired me to write books of my own .I judge the book by its front cover as soon as i saw this book I new it was going to win. The girl - Lauren Matthews-new she was adopted at the age of 3 ,but wanted to find out who her really mom was.so, she looked on the website Missing children. The best part of the book for me was when Lauren found out a lady - Sonia- kiddnapped her from her real parents and sold her to Laurens adoptive parents. I really recommend this book to everyone and hope it wins.

Girl missing was my favourite book out of all the book award books I read. It was my favourite book because it was really good, the way the author thought up the plot for it; I would never have thought up a plot like hers if I was a writer. When, I was reading the book, I couldn't put it down because I wanted to find out who her really mother was and her really birth place. When I was at the bit when she was breaking into the building in America- to find the file- I felt really tense because someone could catch her. After she had found her really mother I felt really happy; she now new who she came from.

Girl missing, was the best book iv'e read in my life- when you read the book you'll never want to put it down.It feels like it is real life;it made me feel that some people live these lives and made me feel determined to read it and wanted to know what will happen next.If you want a dramatic book and then this is the book for you. I would recomend it to anyone that is intrested in a hardhitting drama and wants something really exiting to read.

Review by Marnie from Hatchford Brook Primary school

Girl missing - probably the most exciting book i've ever read; if you're adopted and want to know about your real mom and the real life you used to live with her then you can kind of relate, you just should'nt really run of with your best friend. Once you have started the book, you get into it as soon as it starts to get adventurous and you cant stop imagining what it would be like to be Lauren. In case you hav'nt read the book, you want to try and get hold of it as soon as you can; the way you never know what is going to happen next. girl missing sort of makes you understand how much you would need your real mom if you ever lost her and what it would be like if you never knew how you became adopted by parents who wo'nt tell you the truth about your real mom. before i go, i suggest to you to get the book and READ IT!!!

Review by Elizabeth from Hatchford Brook Primary school

A young girl called Lauren who was adopted when she was very young thought that she would never find her real parents. She was writing a report about herself for a school project and it made her think about who she was. Her adopted mother would never talk about her real mother or where she found Lauren but Lauren knew that there was always somthing that she did not know about her adoption. In the end she finds who she really is and lives a very happy life with both her real and adoptive parents. A very good story with a great twist all the way through. The best book that I have ever read.I'd read it again any day. I would recomend it to anyone who wanted to read it.
