London 2012 Opportunities

The Community & Economic Regeneration Unit provides information and support to companies interested in investing in Solihull, whether new to the area, or an existing company in the Borough.

The announcement on 6 July 2005 that London would host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games was wonderful news not only for London but for the whole country, particularly the West Midlands.

The staging of the Games presents huge opportunities for businesses of all sizes throughout the UK, offering a chance for firms to find new trading partners, enter new markets and compete for contracts from a global audience.

Businesses in every sector, from construction and manufacturing to creative industries and merchandising will be needed, including companies within their network of supply chains.

Opportunities will arise through numerous avenues - from the staging of the Games themselves, construction of the Olympic Village, the four year 'Cultural Olympiad' from 2008 and national Torch Relay, to the delivery of long-term legacy development. The region itself will be involved in holding football matches at Villa Park.
