Portfolio Holder for Education and Children: (i) noted the pressures referred to in the report; (ii) noted the proposed savings referred to in the report; (iii) indicated to the Corporate Director of Education and Children's Services the following areas for more detailed consideration to be submitted to the next meeting The Standards fund Carry out a bench marking exercise on the proposed list of savings; Receive an interim report on Special Transport. (iv) noted the Single Capital Pot appraisal projects that have been put forward for evaluation. |

any new revenue priorities or pressures within the portfolio's budget along
with a proposed method of funding. To report the capital projects which have been put forward to be evaluated as part of the Single Capital Pot appraisal process. |

The Cabinet
Portfolio Holder for Education and Children: agreed that the Local Preventative Strategy be approved for distribution and implementation from January 2005 subject to minor amendments; agreed to receive a future report on progress and invited the Education and Children Scrutiny Board to do the same. |
This
strategy has been developed over the last 12 months through extensive
consultation with all stakeholders including children, young people and
families.
The format and content has been approved by the Children and Young Person's Strategic Partnership. It brings together the work of the statutory, voluntary and community sectors and the needs of children, young people and families in Solihull. Its implementation will reduce the factors that put children and young people at risk of being held back in later life and make best use of resources. The implementation will be monitored through the Children's Trust. |
