Inward Investment and Business Liaison Activities.

To note progress and approve:-

    (i)     the work being carried out by the Business Liaison officer, particularly the dedicated activities with Birmingham Business Park and Blythe Valley Park;

   (ii)     the support from BEST for the Community Involvement Award with Solihull News & Times;

 (iii)     the activities and relationships being developed through the Business Charter BEST; and

  (iv)     the work and activities of the Inward Investment Officer over the past financial year, and plans for 2003/2004.  

To update the Cabinet Member on activities  undertaken by the Investment and Business Support team over the financial year 2003/2004.

National Lottery, update and Fair Share Funding, key facts and figures, June 2004.

To endorse progress with the National Lottery Funding and agree as the National Lottery funding moves into funding projects which are community lead, that the External Funding Team supports non council groups develop projects that help the Council deliver its Council Plan and SCIPs.

To brief Cabinet Member on the changes to the National Lottery fund and the funding requests to the Community Fund and the Fair Share Initiative for North Solihull.

Local Public Service Agreement Employment Target.

    (i)     To note the progress of the LPSA Employment Support Project and support the future actions outlined above; and

   (ii)     To note the status of the current funding position of the project.

Coventry, Solihull, Warwickshire High-Tech Corridor.

    (i)     To note the progress of the CSW Corridor;

   (ii)     To agree to the Council responding to the review of Corridor and Cluster strategies on the basis of the Solihull priorities set out in the report; and

 (iii)     To agree to receive a further report in due course.

To inform the Cabinet Member about the progress of the Coventry, Solihull, Warwickshire High-Tech Corridor.

Regional Skills Partnership

1.       To note the progress of the Regional Skills Partnership; and

2.       To agree to receive further reports on the RSP when appropriate.

To update the Cabinet Member on the establishment of a Regional Skills Partnership (RSP) and to outline the emerging priorities and the potential impacts of the Partnership on Solihull.

Regeneration Zone

    (i)     To note the approval of the 2004-7 Zone Implementation Plan;

   (ii)     To note the requirement for all new Zone funding in 2004/5 to be capital only and the implications of this for key projects; and

 (iii)    To note the timetable for the Zone strategic review and production of the 2005-8 ZIP.

To report the approval of the new Zone Implementation Plan, to advise on current difficulties with Zone funding, and to outline arrangements for a strategic review of the zone.

Conversion of the Capital Budget For The Regeneration Of The North for 2004-05

To approve the latest conversion of Capital Budget to one-off Revenue Budget for 2004-05, subject to the approval of Cllr Hillas in July 2004.

To provide an update to the Cabinet Member on utilisation of the Corporate Capital Budget for the Regeneration of the North to fund various ongoing activities for the financial year 2004/05.

Women's Refuge

(i) To approve the method for selecting the Registered Social Landlord to build and maintain a women's refuge.

(ii) To note the approach being taken to select the service provider for the refuge. 

To approve the method of selecting the Registered Social Landlord to build and be responsible for the maintenance of a women’s refuge.
