Solihull Joint Strategy for Older People

The Cabinet Member:

     (i)     supported the development of an Older Person's Strategy for  Solihull;

    (ii)     approved the Project Plan for the preparation and consultation of the Joint Strategy for Older People; and

   (iii)     refer the strategy to the Social Care Scrutiny Board

Support production of a multi-agency Strategy by which services for older people can be developed in line with the National Service Framework for Older People and the Solihull Community Strategy.

Solihull Joint Mental Health Strategy

To approve the Joint Solihull Mental Health Strategy for the period 2005 – 2010. 

To present to Cabinet Member the revised and updated Solihull joint mental health strategy.   The preparation of a strategy by which to guide the development of mental health services in Solihull is a key requirement which is subject to monitoring by the Strategic Health Authority.  The Strategy has been approved by the Mental Health Locality Implementation Team.

Consultation on the smoke free elements of the Health Improvement and Protection Bill.

Cabinet Member approved the response to the public consultation on the Government’s proposed legislation to restrict smoking, and its submission.

To seek approval of the proposed draft response to the public consultation on the Government’s proposals for legislation to restrict smoking in enclosed public places and work places.

    (ii)     Note the termination of the Housework service contract,

   (iii)     Authorise the award of the ‘Evening’ service contract to Solihull Care Ltd in line with 'Best Value' principles and to ensure continuity and stability of service provision, and

  (iv)     Authorise the award of the ‘Bathing’ service contract to Solihull Care Ltd in line with 'Best Value' principles and to ensure continuity and stability of service provision.

Enable continuity of domiciliary care contracts for the provision of support services to vulnerable people living in their own homes consistent with the achievement of best value.
