Help with childcare costs
There are a range of benefits and tax credits that can help towards the costs of childcare for working parents
Free places for two year olds
If your child is two years old and your family receive benefits, your child may be entitled to 15 hours of free early education a week at a local nursery, pre-school or childminder.
If you are not receiving any benefits but feel that you have difficult family circumstances you can ask either your health visitor, social worker, children's centre family support worker or childcare provider to make a referral to the 2yr funding panel. The panel will then decide if they can offer you a place based on the information on the referral form and you will then be contacted to let you know if you have been approved for a place or not.
To check if you are eligible please complete the online form or call 0800 389 8667.
Free places for three and four year olds
All three and four year olds are entitled to up to 15 hours of free early education a week, from the term following their third birthday.
