Welcome to the Equality and Diversity section of our website

As a Council, we aim to provide excellent, accessible services that meet the needs of all our residents. We also aim to be an equal opportunities employer, acting positively to ensure we recruit, train and retain a diverse workforce.

We are committed to promoting equal opportunities through policies and strategies that ensure equal access to all our services and provide people with equal opportunities in getting jobs and in career development. Our vision of “Solihull in 2018: where everyone has an equal chance to be healthier, happier, safer, and more prosperous” can only be achieved if it includes all of Solihull's people. To this end, ‘Closing the gap of inequality’ for Solihull is one of our key aims and ambitions. They are the basis of our commitment to equality, which is expressed in our Corporate Equality and Diversity Policy.

The pages in this Equality and Diversity section explain in more detail the duties of the Council and how we are going about meeting our equality and diversity commitments, together with the work of Solihull Council's Equalities Team.  We have also provided background information on the sometimes complex equalities issues underlying what we do.
