Marriage - arrangement and ceremony

As you embark on one of the most important occasions of your life you will no doubt have more questions than answers. We hope these webpages will help by explaining some of the choices you have in where, when and how you celebrate your Wedding and guide you through the required legal formalities.

Register Office - Temporary Closure

Due to required works the Register Office will be closed for all ceremonies from Monday 18th November to Wednesday 4th December 2013.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We will help you create your own special occasion - help you design your ceremony around all that is important to you, and ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.

How to book

Online

You can complete the online booking form, once received one of our experienced event coordinators will send you a confirmation letter to advise if your chosen date and time has been booked. If your first and second choices are unavailable, they will contact you to discuss an alternative date and time.

Once you have received your confirmation letter, you will need to pay the required deposit by calling 0121 704 8002 or visting one of our Connect Walk-In Centres.

By telephone

You can contact us on 0121 704 8002 to make your booking and  pay the non-refundable deposit. Payment can be made by credit or debit card.

In person

You can call  in to Solihull Register Office, Homer Road, Solihull, B91 3QZ  or any of our Solihull Connect Offices to make your bookin and pay the non-refundable deposit. Payment can be made by credit or debit card or cash .

Terms & Conditions of Booking

Deposit - A deposit is payable at the time of booking which is non refundable if the event is cancelled.
Balance Payable - Full payment is required no later than 8 weeks prior to the ceremony date; there is no refund of a deposit if full payment is not received by the due date. Solihull reserves the right to cancel the booking where payment has not been received by the due date.
Certificates - Due to limited time at your ceremony it may only be possible to issue one certificate, if you have ordered extra copies the remaining certificates will be posted to you within 5 days.
Amendments - Changes to your ceremony time, date or venue is subject to a £21.00 administration fee, payable at the time of requesting the amendment.
Cancellation - If you decide to cancel your event you must let us know in writing to Solihull Register Office, Homer Road, Solihull, B91 3QZ or by email connectcc@solihull.gov.uk
Refunds - Cancellation more than 8 weeks prior to ceremony - Refund of amount paid less deposit 
Cancellation 8 weeks or less prior to ceremony - No refund of ceremony costs (certificates only) 
Failure to attend on the day - No refund for ceremony costs (certificates only) 
Payment made for certificate(s) will be refunded in full in any event
Arrival at the Venue - It is important that your ceremony starts promptly as the registrars may have to go on to conduct another ceremony. We ask that you arrive with your guests no later than 20 minutes before the ceremony. Please allow extra time during busy periods such as Christmas & New Year or if you plan to have photographs taken before the Ceremony. If you arrive late we reserve the right to postpone the ceremony.

All bookings are subject to you both giving notice in accordance with the current legislation

Civil Ceremonies

Civil ceremonies can take place in a Register Office or other licensed building.

Religious Ceremonies

Religious ceremonies can take place in a church, chapel or other building of worship which has been formally registered for marriage ceremonies.

Approved Premises

The Marriage Act 1994 allows suitable locations to be licensed for marriage ceremonies, offering a vast choice of type, location and cost. You can marry at any approved premises in England or Wales.

Fees

Fees are payable no later than 8 weeks before the date of the ceremony. For ceremonies which are taking place in less than 8 weeks payment should be made at time of booking. Terms and conditions apply.
