Information about clusters and corridors in Solihull
The 'Cluster' concept is that similar types of companies naturally group together, with suppliers, service providers and related firms. Therefore in order to encourage economic growth connections need to be made between companies and sources of technology, skills, finance, suppliers and potential customers.
The Regional Development Agency Advantage West Midlands has identified 10 business clusters as essential to the region's current and future economic performance. Some of these are well established and some growing or in early stages of development.
Solihull's strengths are in ICT, Business and Professional Services, Transport Technologies (linked to the CSW High -Technology Corridor), and BusinessTourism.
Business and Professional Services
Solihull is ranked 7th in the top 16 of Professional Services in the West Midlands, by share of total firms and it is predicted that by 2010 over 500,000 jobs could be created in the Professional, Financial and Business Support service sector in Birmingham and Solihull.
Professional service firms located in Solihull are well placed to serve both the London and North West markets, boasting a location packed at the heart of the national communications network and neighbour to the UK's second largest Professional services sector outside London.
Solihull is the chosen location for the Head Quarters of Taylor Woodrow, IMI, Aseriti and Enterprise Inns. Other occupiers include The Paragon Group, 3i and Secure Trust Bank.
Information, Communication & Technology Cluster
The Coventry Solihull and Warwickshire (CSW) Software Triangle area comprises 1300 ICT & Software companies, concentrated in 6 major science parks and employing over 40,000 ICT professionals.
The CSW Software Triangle area offers investors the opportunity to access and develop new technologies. Half of the companies in the region are engaged in Research and Design, while the University of Warwick has international centres of excellence in all departments relating to ICT & Software. Significant ICT firms include Fujitsu, Oracle and Computer Science Corporation.

Transport Technology Cluster
The West Midlands region has long been established as the heart of the automotive industry in the UK. Despite a decline in manufacturing activity over recent years, the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire sub-region is a leading location in Europe for transport technology industries, home to over 1,200 companies and 19 of the world's top 20 automotive suppliers.
