Opportunities Bulletin

A regular update on employment, training, and volunteering opportunities.

Connexions Solihull's Opportunities Bulletin, is part of our Placing Service which supports young people in Solihull into appropriate training or employment opportunities.

The Opportunities Bulletin will give you regular information on employment, training and volunteering opportunities and will replace the vacancy card system in our Centres.

Why are we doing this?

On the whole employers advertise their jobs through the internet, newspapers, informally by word of mouth, and notices on their premises.  There have been fewer and fewer employers approaching Connexions to advertise their jobs.  So we have reviewed our service to focus more on how we can help you to find the opportunities out there.  The Opportunities Bulletin is not a comprehensive list of all the opportunities in Solihull, the Bulletin is there to point you in the right direction, give you a flavour of what is out there and link you to training and volunteering opportunities.

How do you get hold of Opportunities Bulletin?

At the moment, you can get the Bulletin from your local Connexions Centre and it is on our webpages (see the Attachents Section on the right hand side of this page).  You may agree with your Personal Adviser to receive a copy in the post.  Ideally, we would like to be able to send you a copy by email and we are exploring how we could do this automatically - you need to talk to your Personal Adviser about setting up an appropriate email address (hopefully you have one already).

How often is the Opportunities Bulletin updated?

The Bulletin will be produced every two weeks.  Each one will be dated and we will keep an archive of Bulletins on our webpages.  There will be back copies in our Centres - you will need to check out the archive and back copies because each one will be different.  Any information we are collecting for the next bulletin or with urgent deadlines will be available in our Centres.

The Bulletin is one part of our Placing Service, the complete service includes:

• One to one Personal Adviser support
• Access to the internet and resources at our Connexios Centres with a Personal Adviser on hand to help
• Information on careers and pathways into careers
• Personalised job search support
• Referral to agencies and providers who can help
• Information on our webpages
• Newsletter - published three times a year with good stories and articles on the range of opportunities available
