Safer Solihull  Partnership Members

West Midlands Police and Solihull Care Trust

The membership of the Safer Solihull includes a range of organisations, which operate in the Borough of Solihull.

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and the Police Reform Act 2002 gave local authorities, police authorities and fire services "Responsible Authority Status" to work together and promote community safety in their everyday work. Care Trusts received this status from April 2004.

In addition to theses organisations there are a number of others, which support the work of Solihull and help to make Solihull a safer place to live and work. All have a key interest in the reduction of crime and disorder and/or how drug and alcohol issues are addressed.

The Safer Solihull Executive Board consists of representatives from the organisations listed below:

  • Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is the local authority serving the Solihull area. The Chief Executive' Directorate, the Public Health Directorate, the Adult Social Services Directorate, the Education and Children's Services Directorate, the Community Services Directorate are all represented on the Safer Solihull Partnership/DAAT.

  • West Midlands Police Authority is a body established by law and comprises of local people, whose main responsibility is to make sure that the West Midlands has the best possible police service.

  • Solihull Primary Care Trust is the organisation responsible for making sure that healthcare services are available for the people of Solihull.

  • West Midlands Police are responsible for crime prevention and crime detection in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull. The force is divided into 21 autonomous units known as Operational Command Units (OCU's), each controlled by a Chief Superintendent answerable to the Chief Constable.

  • National Probation Service works with people who have committed different types of offences such as burglary, violence, car crime and sex offences and provides probation supervision, offender behaviour programmes and specialist support services which can stop people committing further offences.

  • West Midlands Fire Service is the fire service covering Solihull.
