Citizens' Panel
Our Citizens' Panel was set up in 2005 in partnership with Solihull Care Trust and is managed by the Market Research agency Brahm Ltd.
What is a Citizens' Panel?
Four times a year we consult a representative sample of Solihull residents about Council Services and priorities. We call this a Citizens' Panel though it is a different group of people that are surveyed every time.
Why have a Citizens' Panel?
The aim of our Citizens' Panel is to provide a way we can regularly consult people and listen to views about our services. The benefits of a panel are:
- Giving is feedback from a representative sample of the Solihull population
- Giving us both qualitative and quantitative feedback
- Opportunity to understand why people's views are changing
- Option for more focused research among users of specific services e.g. exploring views of library users
How does the panel work?
We run a survey four times a year, when we have got the views from a mix of people from all walks of live the responses are then analysed by the research company and reported to us. There is no personal information about any resident included in the reports. The reports are then used to inform decision making and improve services.
Following the surveys, a feedback newsletter is sent to everyone who took part in the survey feeding back the overall results as well as details of any actions taken as a result.
What happens to the views local people express?
All views and opinions expressed by local people are collected by the research company and used to help us make decisions and improve services.
Do people get a reward for taking part?
There are no financial rewards for taking part in one of the surveys. We hope people want to take part because they care about the community they live in and about helping us improve services to local people.
Their views help Councillors make sure services match the needs of local people.
