Copies of the Council's current financial documents are available to view and download at the right-hand side of this page. Below is a summary of each of the documents.

Council Tax Financial Information

Information on the Council’s budget and Council tax requirement for the financial year 2013/14 can be found in our council tax leaflet. You can also find information on the West Midlands Fire and Rescue Authority, West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner and Centro’s spending requirements for 2013/14, and how these affect the council tax you pay.

Council Annual Report

Producing an annual report is a valuable way of communicating to our customers the positive outcomes that the Council has achieved across all of its priority areas. This provides, in a summary level publication, financial, performance, and environmental headlines that set out some of the key achievements of the Council over the last financial year.

The Accounting Statement

The Council’s Accounting Statement for 2011/12 was approved by the Council's Governance Committee on 25 September 2012. This document includes our external auditor's independent opinion and all of the Council’s financial statements, including the Comprehensive Income and Expenditure Statement for the financial year and the Balance Sheet as at the 31 March 2012.

The Council would also like to inform you that the audit for the year ended 31 March 2012 is now complete. Please see this public notice for further information. 

External Audit Report

The External Audit Report is an independent report provided to SMBC by the external auditors, The Audit Commission. The report is the result of an external evaluation of the Council's financial information and Accounting Statement.

Medium Term Financial Strategy 2013/14 - 2015/16

The Medium Term Financial Strategy sets out the Council's approach to medium term financial planning. It is designed to help provide a stable financial base from which to deliver the Council's priorities, to move towards a more strategic longer term planning approach and to set a sound financial planning framework for the Council. West Midlands Joint Committee Annual Return 2010/11

The West Midlands Joint Committee (WMJC) comprising the seven Metropolitan District Councils of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton was established in 1985 following the abolition of the County Council. The Committee is a joint committee for the purposes of Part VI of the Local Government Act 1972. The overall objective of the WMJC is to co-ordinate actions on important issues affecting the local authorities in the West Midlands and to provide a vehicle for communicating these actions and their needs to Government and other influential bodies.

Quarterly Financial Monitoring Reports

The Council's quarterly financial monitoring reports for both revenue and capital can be accessed through the Cabinet Meeting Agendas for individual Cabinets.  These are normally presented at a meeting two months following the end of the quarter.
