Community Governance Reviews

A community governance review enables us to review and put in place or make changes to community governance systems and structures – for example by creating, merging, abolishing or changing parish or town councils in the review area.

Solihull MBC is has now completed its Community Governance Review of the parishes of Balsall and Berkswell.

Update on Review

6th February 2013:

On 5th February 2013 Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council accepted the proposals of the Governance Committee and has made its final decisions on this review.

In summary these are that

1. There should be no change to the Parish boundary between Balsall and Berkswell parishes.

2. The existing Balsall Parish should be split, with the creation of a new parish based on the whole of the existing Balsall Parish West Ward.

3. The new parish will be known as Chadwick End Parish and will have a Parish Council of 5 members.

4. The new Chadwick End Parish Council will be established from 1st April 2014.

5. The first elections of parish councillors for Chadwick End Parish will be combined with the Solihull MBC elections in 2014.

6. There will be no change to the parish council arrangements for the remainder of Balsall Parish, and Balsall Parish Council will continue to exist.

The detailed decisions and the reasons for them can be read in full here.
