Elections - postal votes
If you are unable to get to your Polling Station on election day you can apply for a postal vote provided you are on the register of electors.
You can register for a permanent postal vote or a temporary postal vote for one election only.
Applying for a postal vote
To apply for a postal vote you will need to complete a postal vote application form. You can do this by contacting us and we will send one to you.
Please return all completed, signed forms to:

You can choose to have a postal vote for a particular election, for a certain period of time or until further notice. You can also choose to cover just Parliamentary or Local Elections, or both.
The Electoral Registration Officer must receive any new applications by 5pm on the eleventh day before the day of the poll.
Changes to existing postal votes
You must apply within 11 days before polling day by 5pm, if there are changes to your existing absent voting arrangrments.
As an alternative to voting by post you may appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf. This means that the person you appoint will receive your ballot paper in the polling station and cast your vote for you.
