Excellence in the Community Project
Adult Learning Centres/Extended Schools
The Excellence in the Community Project is a £1.6m project, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Regeneration Zone, Advantage West Midlands, Solihull Council and Solihull College. The centres are based at 2 secondary, 10 primary schools and 2 Neighbourhood Nurseries in the north of the Borough. They are easily accessible, small and friendly, and open to members of the local community not in full-time education. Solihull College provide the many varied courses on offer at the centres, both accredited and non accredited.

Some of the courses available are:
Computing - all levels; Literacy and Numeracy; Classroom and Teaching Assistants; Floristry; Creative crafts; Working with Children; GSCE English; Holistic Therapies; Nail Art; Returning to Work; Digital Photography
And, if you need childcare for the under 5s, the centres have access to high quality facilities which may be free subject to qualifying criteria.
As a consequence of regenerating the schools in the North, all Excellence in the Community Centres will be encompassed within the new rebuilding programme over the next 7 years.
The project also links into the Solihull Council's Lifelong Learning and Extended Schools Agenda, establishment of Children's Centres and Neighbourhood Nurseries, providing lots of opportunities for the local community to improve old skills and learn new ones.
