Education for sustainable development

‘ESD: Education that allows learners to acquire the skills, abilities and knowledge to live a more sustainable life’

Solihull Council has a support network to empower your school to develop sustainability from whatever starting point you are at.

A Schools Sustainability Engagement Officer based in the Sustainable Development Team works with schools. The Solihull Sustainable Schools leaflet provides details of support available.

More detail about actions and best practice can be seen in the ESD Report 2018/19.

Greener Solihull Schools Awards

The Greener Solihull Schools Awards challenge children and staff to learn about the environment locally and globally, and make their school more eco-friendly. A leaflet, awards pack and application can be downloaded. We also encourage schools to follow the Eco-Schools Programme.
