Employment Interventions
The Community and Economic Regeneration Team is currently involved in a number of employment related projects which aim to make a real difference in helping local residents to get into work.
These projects sometimes arise as the result of major developments that are taking place around the local area. Some examples of the types of projects we have been involved in, are detailed below.
Employment Support for People with Learning Disabilities
In recognition of the low employment rates of people with learning disabilities, the Council and Solihull Care Trust have jointly signed up to a National Indicator that means the number of people with learning disabilities who are supported to take up paid jobs will be closely monitored over the next three years.

Lifelong Learning in Solihull
The Council and its partners are working closely with providers of training and learning to make sure that every body within the Borough has access to learning. This may include doing courses for leisure or interest as well as undertaking specific courses to help people gain employment. Often a lack of qualifications will make it more difficult for people to get jobs so it is very important that the promotion of learning and access to employment is done together.
The Economic Development Team is a partner in the Solihull Lifelong Learning Partnership. This Partnership helps to co-ordinate the providers in the Borough to make sure that the courses provided are accessible and relevant to everybody. The Partnership is based in the Central Library.
You can find out more information on Lifelong Learning from any library in the borough or alternatively call 0121 704 8219
