Enterprise Week 2009

Enterprise Week takes place from 16-22 November 2009.

Enterprise Week is part of  Global Entrepreneurship Week - a worldwide celebration of enterprise - which aims to unleash young people's enterprising ideas to make money and to address some of society's biggest issues, from reducing poverty through to climate change.

If you’re thinking about working for yourself and want to find out more come along to a FREE event. Find out from our advisors about planning your business, setting up a bank account, registering for tax and much more plus a chance to meet some local entrepreneurs.

 

NOVEMBER 2009

Solihull Business Club - November 10th
Technology update for the small business owner, what you really should and need to know when running your own business. Presented by club members with many years practical experience. Michelle Cochayne will provide tips and advice on advertising rules and regulations and how they relate to your website and email campaigns.

Make Your Mark Challenge – 16th November 2009
The Make Your Mark Challenge is the largest one day enterprise competition for schools and colleges in the UK. Over 56,000 students took part last year! If you’re a school or college, get your students involved.

Women's Enterprise Day is all about celebrating female entrepreneurs who have truly made their mark, and inspiring more women and girls to turn their ideas into reality. This year we're particularly encouraging female entrepreneurs.

Stock Market Challenge

The Stock Market Challenge’ brings the unique excitement of a live trading floor into the learning environment. The interactive, experiential learning resource uses time pressured trading to create a realistic, competitive and rewarding atmosphere.

Arrive at 9:30am for networking with students and businesses, prompt 10am start for the ‘Stock Market Challenge’ (estimated finish time 11:30am / 12 noon)

Solihull College - Q&A Forum @ 11am

Local businesses within Solihull conducting a Q&A forum with 60 National Diploma Business Students present.

 

Inter-school competition in partnership with the ‘Ramada Solihull

Arden School & Heart of England school, Solihull

Ramada hotel are looking to put a Costa Coffee implant into George's Bar. They are setting a challenge and a budget of how they could make the Costa Coffee busy.
 
The Ramada will judge each entry on 'Return on Investment', 'Creative Flair' and 'Practicality' to give a winner.

 A tour the hotel will also be provided by the General Manager.

 

Thursday 19th November – Grace Academy

Buying a property - Sydney Mitchell conducting an informal discussion with a number of students about the process of buying a house.

Managing your Personal Accounts- Moneywatch Finance conducting an informal discussion with a number of students about the process of managing a personal bank account.

Sustainable Home Project with Grace Academy, Solihull

Science & Technology Class & New World Solar

Student will design a sustainable home of the future, they will need to do some pre work looking at:

-Water consumption
-Recycling
-Renewable energy
-Insulation

On the day New World Solar will give a short presentation detailing what is required, with a short film. The students will work in teams and elect a team leader to present their design to the class. Colin Strong, technical director will judge the designs back at New World Solar and we will present a trophy to the winning team.

 

24th November

Early Bird Breakfast Networking

Each company representative will be given the opportunity to do a 1-minute presentation to the other members, exchange business leads and make valuable contacts.  With this in mind, please feel free to bring with you your company literature and not forgetting those all-important business cards.
