Artist Information

I spent 30 years designing and building database systems before discovering the similarities between the dressmaking I had practiced all my life and stained glass. From a Saturday morning class at Solihull College I went on to the South Warwickshire College at Leamington and finally to the International Glass Centre at Brierley Hill. Here I discovered many other aspects of glass and expanded my interests to include kiln forming and cold working glass.

In addition to the stained glass I have two different techniques I am exploring. In the first I used layered clear glass to trap coloured glass, enamels and other things, in the second I take a piece of glass which has been created with layers of colour and carve the glass away. The result is known as Cameo glass.

In either technique, I use images from the landscape to create pictures which have depth and which you may feel familiar with. The glass can be free standing or framed. Including a light fitting will make a feature wall or table light.
