Visiting Bickenhill HWRC in a commercial vehicle or with a trailer
Bickenhill Household Waste and Recycling Centre is not licensed to accept trade or commercial waste and it is an offence to deposit or attempt to deposit such waste. Residents generating household waste who only have use of a commercial type vehicle and all vehicle trailer combinations are required to obtain a permit.
The permit allows twelve visits and further permits may be applied for. You can do this by telephoning 0121 704 8000 during office hours.
When you telephone for a permit you will be asked the following questions:-
- Your name and address and where the waste is generated from
- Vehicle registration
- Vehicle type, colour and any logos
- What type of waste you are depositing
- Whether the vehicle is in excess of 3.5 tonnes
These details are required so we can regulate the waste being deposited on site and ensure that trade or commercial waste is not entering the waste stream.
Staff from our Waste and Recycling team may visit you prior to your visit to ensure that the refuse is not from a trade source. Vehicles believed to be attempting to deposit commercial waste on site will be turned away and the permit revoked.
- Please note that the site has height restriction barriers, set at 6' 9'. The staff on site are required to check that the waste they accept is household and not from commercial or trade sources.
- Commercial type vehicles and vehicle trailer combinations without a permit will be turned away from the site.
- The maximum permitted trailer length is 2.8 metres, this includes the tow bar.
