Information

Council Pest Control Officers will deal with pests that are harmful to health and well-being at homes and businesses.

Rodents (Rats and Mice) can be particularly unsettling due to their possible transmission of diseases. We will deal with these pests within 5 working days at no charge to households and for a fee at non-residential locations. However at times of high demand, particularly during the summer months, it may take longer for us to carry out treatments.

Other pests, including Wasps, Ants and various insects can be dealt with for a fee. Costs are specified on the next page.

What Pests do you deal with?

We can help with Rats and Mice, Wasps and infestations of fleas, Ants and Bedbugs.

We cannot help with Foxes, squirrels, pigeons, moles, beetles, bees, starlings or bats. We can provide advice and refer you to relevant organisations, including those below:

I have a problem with Rats/Mice:

• We provide a service to all Solihull residents, for the treatment of rats and mice
• If the rats/mice are inside your property then the service is free. If the rats/mice are outside of your property there will be a charge of £15.00.
• We normally deal with these pests within 5 days, however at times of high demand, particularly during the summer months, this may be longer.

I have a problem with Squirrels:

If you are a Solihull Community Housing (SCH) tenant call Solihull Community Housing on 0121 717 1515

Otherwise:

• We cannot deal with squirrels
• Please view our information about squirrels (see below)
• You should make your own arrangements to contact a reputable private contractor for treatment

I have a problem with Wasps/Flea infestations and Bed Bugs:

Otherwise

• We can provide a pest control service to treat these insects
• This service is chargeable, see below

I have a problem with Ants:

• Please view our information about Ants (see below)
• If required, a Pest Control Officer can visit and treat for ants within the property
• Call Solihull Connect on 0121 704 8000 to arrange an appointment
• A charge is made for this visit
• It is not possible to guarantee 100% eradication.

How do I book an appointment?

If you are a Solihull Community Housing (SCH) Tenant, please call 0121 717 1515.

Otherwise, call Solihull Connect on 0121 704 8000 or email: connectcc@solihull.gov.uk. The office is open Monday - Thursday: 0845-1720 and Friday: 0845-1630.

Officers will visit by prior appointment and will apply safe and effective treatments. Weekend work is only undertaken at peak summer periods.

If for any reason the problem persists they will return and make every effort to ensure the pest is eradicated.

How much will it cost?

Some services can be provided free of charge.

How do I pay?

We can take payment by credit/debit cards (Visa, Visa Delta, Mastercard, Switch, Solo). This must be paid at the time of booking treatment by telephone. You should have your card details ready when requesting Pest Control Services.
