Spring events seasonal image

Offering wide open spaces and great accessibility, it is little wonder there are so many events in Solihull through the year.

No matter what the season, or the weather, a great show is always put on.

It is not all happening in our parks though, with many conservation projects and environmental initiatives taking place in our Local Nature Reserves too.

Wednesday 30 May
Octavian Droobers Orienteering event

Elmdon Park, B92 9EJ - 6.30pm to 7.30pm

Do you and your family enjoy walking, jogging or running? Why not come along and try the outdoor adventure navigation sport of orienteering with the local club, Octavian Droobers? There will be courses from 1Km to 6Km, easy to advanced, to suit all abilities and ages from 5 to 85! Help is available to all newcomers.

A large scale map and electronic timer are also provided - bring a compass if you have one. Cost £5.00 per adult, £1.00 per child or student, which includes a course map and the hire of a timer. Meet at the car park by Elmdon Church. To find out more visit club website www.octavian-droobers.org or telephone 01926 632189.

Arty in the Wild

The Parkridge Centre, Brueton Park, B91 3HW - 10.30am to 11.30am

Get arty in the wild with the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust!  Make massive stick pictures and get muddy using a special mud paint recipe. Suitable for children aged 2+.

We'll be heading outside on the hunt for spring colours, playing games, wildlife spotting and even making a special craft to take home. Suitable for children aged 2-4.

Friends of Damson Parks Dog Show and Fun Day

Damson Lane Park, B92 9JS - 10.30am to 3.00pm

Join the Friends of Damson Parks group at this popular fundraising event, where proceeds go towards improving the park. Featuring the much-loved Dogwatch dog show, other activities include a football shoot-out, croquet lawn and stalls galore.

Himalayan balsam control and litter pick

Cole Bank Park LNR - Times TBC

Join the Solihull Conservation Volunteers to help improve a local wildlife site. They will be working in Cole Bank Park LNR to control the Himalayan balsam and carrying out a litter pick to improve the condition of the area. Times are to be agreed by those taking part.
