Heritage Open Days 2009

Heritage Open Days logo

Heritage Open Days celebrates England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. Every year on four days in September, buildings of every age, style and function throw open their doors, ranging from castles to factories, town halls to tithe barns, parish churches to Buddhist temples. It is a once-a-year chance to discover hidden architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities which bring to life local history and culture.

Knowle Society Local History

Knowle Society Local History team will be showing a selection of the many old scrapbooks from our archives which chronicle village life in Knowle from the early 1900s onwards. Some of the very old books which are too fragile to handle have now been digitalised and will be available to view on screen.

Our current exhibition "Henry Tonks – Surgeon & Artist" who was born in Solihull, will also still be available to view.

Both events will take place in our History Centre, which is situated upstairs in Knowle Library, High Street, Knowle on Saturday 12 September 2009 11am – 4pm.

The Henry Tonks exhibition will continue to run until the end of September and is available to view at any time during normal library opening hours.
