LDS Family History Centres

Family History Centres are run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), often called Mormons.   The centres are open to members of the public and you do not have to be a member of the church to gain access to records.

The family history centres are branch facilities of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah and can make available to family historians most of the millions of microfilms and microfiche held by the Family History Library.  As this includes records from all over the world, it is particularly useful for family historians researching ancestors who come from outside the UK.  Students on our Caribbean family history courses have used the Sutton Coldfield Family History Centre, in particular, to access records from Jamaica, Nevis and Barbados.

The centres are free of charge to use but there is a small charge to order records that are not already held at the centre.
