Supported Lodgings Providers

Supported Lodgings is one of the accommodation options offered to care leavers, aged 16-24, who are not quite ready to live on their own.

With the help of a supportive lodgings provider, the young person will have a safe and supportive environment which will prepare them for independent living.

How does it work?

Supported Lodgings Providers rent rooms in their homes to a young person, provide meals and help them develop skills such as cooking, cleaning and budgeting.

Who can become a supported lodgings provider?

We are looking for families or individuals from a range of backgrounds who are interested in young people and who have a spare bedroom to offer.

There are no restrictions based on age, ethnicity or if you are single, married or living as a couple.

All providers need is a spare room, patience, compassion and understanding of young people and their needs.

All supported lodgings providers will be subject to health and criminal background checks and must be able to provide references.

What’s in it for you?

Supporting a young person in this way is an exciting and rewarding experience.

Providers will also receive:

  • Weekly payment of £170 while the young person is being housed.
  • Training and support to help you deal with issues facing care leavers and young people generally
