Information and advice for young people in Solihull who are about to leave or have left our care.

Drug Treatment

CASCADE offer counselling and acupuncture to drug users. Auricular acupuncture (in the ear) is an ancient Chinese treatment which is good for everyone - whether using drugs or not. Five small needles are inserted in the ear at different points. You might feel a small scratch as the needles go in, but generally people do not find treatment uncomfortable.

The benefits of acupuncture are different for everyone and they accumulate as you have more sessions. They may include:

  • Reduced cravings
  • Feeling more relaxed
  • Improved sleep
  • Less night sweats
  • Stronger kidney and digestion
  • Relieved stomach and muscle cramps
  • Less itchiness and skin irritation

During the treatment you just let mind and body relax. After 40 minutes, the pins are removed you get a cup of herbal tea. Try not to do anything stressful for the rest of the day.

Some people feel different immediately after acupuncture and for other people it takes longer. You can have treatment as often as you like. To begin with, three times a week might be useful.

Auricular acupuncture is part of the counselling service provided by CASCADE, all of which is confidential. To arrange an appointment, contact them as below.
