Care Leavers - Preparing to leave care
Information and advice for young people in Solihull who are about to leave or have left our care.
Your Pathway Plan
Your plans for leaving care will be developed through a pathway plan. This plan will look at options for:
- Where you want to live
- Whether you stay in education or seek employment
- Where you will get support if things get difficult
Before you leave care, the 16+ team can help with:
- Accommodation
- Finding work
- Training
- Education
- Managing money
- DIY Tasks
- Benefit claims
- Support networks
Resettlement grant
If you have been 'looked after' you may be entitled to a resettlement grant. This is intended to help towards setting yourself up in your own accommodation. However, this is discretionary and is not a guaranteed amount.
Financial Assistance
You can get financial assistance if you are in full-time education or training. If you go on to university you can be supported throughout your course until you are 24, including help with accommodation over the vacations.
