Disabled bus pass
The Concessionary Travel Scheme provides passes which enable people to travel on public service buses free of charge at off peak times.Travel passes for disabled people of working age are now issued by Centro at Travel Offices and other outlets.
If you live permanently in the West Midlands County, are aged below 60 and meet certain criteria, you may be entitled to a free travel pass from Centro.
Eligibility
If you have one or more of the following disabilities, you may be entitled to a free travel pass:
- Blind or partially sighted*
- Severe or profound deafness
- A speech impairment
- Walking difficulties*
- Difficulty in using your arms
- Had your driving licence refused or withdrawn for medical reasons
*If you are registered blind or partially sighted, or receive higher rate (mobility component) Disability Living Allowance, you will be eligible for a free travel pass.
Where Can I Use My Free Travel Pass?
You can use it on the Metro tram, on trains and buses within the West Midlands County. You may also use your free travel pass on Ring and Ride, once you register. Travel passes can be used:
- Monday to Friday after 9.30 am
- All day Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays
- Any time on Ring and Ride when the service is available
How Do I Apply For My Free Travel Pass?
Application is by post. Application forms are available from:
- Local Travel Information Centres (Birmingham New Street Station, Coventry Pool Meadow Bus Station and Wolverhampton Bus Station)
- Centro ticketing team on 0121 214 7878
- You can download an application form from the Centro website
Travel Before 9.30 am On Weekdays
You can pay for your journey each time you travel or, if you regularly use public transport before 9.30 am you can buy a pre 0930 ticket:
- bus for all buses
- train for trains
- bus & Metro for all buses plus the Metro tram
- network for trains, Metro tram and all buses
Where Can I Buy My Pre 0930 Ticket?
Pre 0930 tickets can be purchased from:
- Most TWM Travelcard ticket agents
- Travel West Midlands Travelcard and Information Centres
- Local Travel Information Centre, Birmingham New Street Station
