Building regulations

Information on the statutory Building Regulations which ensure that buildings are properly designed and constructed for the Health, Safety, Welfare and Convenience of the people using them.

The Building Regulations are a set of regulations; supported by technical guidance documents (Approved Documents) that set out acceptable standards to which buildings should be constructed. Building Control ensure these standards are met, by approving detailed design drawings and calculations as well as inspecting work on-site.

Building Control regulates the construction of buildings, ensuring they meet the standards set out in the Building Regulations. The service has a vital role to play in ensuring the design and construction of healthy, safe, sustainable and accessible buildings
